お盆帰省です．今年から車での帰省ですね．渋滞どんなもんだろうと，ビビりましたが，思った程では無かったです．2時間半が3時間半になるぐらいで，まあまあ耐えです．
着いて荷物を置き部屋に荷物を置き，ソファに座る．姪がゲームしてます．最近はスプラトゥーンが流行りらしいです．
私が子どもの頃は，ゲームボーイを通信ケーブルでつなぐ時代．画面も暗いし，バグるし，データ消えたりするし，そんな時代から2,30年ですごい変化ですよね．大学の頃，試みにゲームボーイからのスイッチを入れたことありますが，画面が暗くて，とてもやってられない．あんなゲームを一日中やってたんだからまあすごい．最近のゲームは，目に優しいです．
更に，オンラインで常時，友達と繋がってるのがすごいです．3DSの頃はすれ違い通信して，初めてやってるゲームが分かりましたが，最近はwi-fi下にいる限り常時です．マジすげぇです．
ちなみに，私入院中にスプラトゥーンをオンラインで買って，少しやってたんですが，電話番号が変わった影響でニンテンドーオンラインに入れなくなり，ゲームができなくなってしまいました．．．許さぬ．．．って感じです．問い合わせたら，戻るだろうか．そもそも，やらないから，まあ何でもいいんですが．
さあ，お盆と言えばお墓参りですね．3日ほど連夜お墓に出向いて，線香をあげてきました．田舎のお墓なので，本当に街灯一つない真っ暗な道を提灯と懐中電灯を持って歩きます．姪ちゃんはゲームしてるので兄と二人行って来ました．昔は，少し遠く感じましたが，今思えば1kmも無い？ぐらいの近い道．昔ながらのどうでもいい話をして往復します．
昼間は昼間で公園で遊んだり，マリカしたり，ボードゲームしたり，なんやかんや，お盆は終わります．
良いのか，悪いのか，大学が忙しい上に，復学後は親しい人少なかったので，夏休み短い～みたいな気分は特に無かったですね．そんな事より土日休みも祝日も確保されてるの素晴らしい．
ところで，スプラトゥーンは元々以下じゃなくて，ウサギを繰るゲームとして考えられてたそうですね．
それが，インクの中を高速移動＝インクの中を泳ぐと言い換えられるなというところから，イカになったそうです．そもそも，類の無いゲームを作りたいと言うところから始まりましたが，実際そうなってるし，すごいブームを作りましたし，ニンテンドースゲーです．子どもの頃だったらクッソやり込んでた事でしょう．

I went back home for Obon. Starting this year, I drove back instead of taking the train. I was a little nervous about traffic jams, but it wasn’t as bad as I expected—2.5 hours turned into about 3.5, which was tolerable.
After arriving, I dropped my stuff in the room and sat down on the sofa. My niece was playing games—apparently Splatoon is all the rage these days.
When I was a kid, it was the era of Game Boys connected by link cables. The screens were dark, they glitched, data would get erased… Hard to believe how much things have changed in 20–30 years. I once tried turning on my old Game Boy in college, but the screen was so dim I couldn’t stand it. Crazy to think I used to play that all day. Games today are way easier on the eyes.
Even more amazing is how they’re always online with friends. Back in the 3DS days, you had to “StreetPass” just to see what others were playing. Now, as long as you’ve got Wi-Fi, you’re connected nonstop. Insane.
By the way, I actually bought Splatoon online while I was in the hospital and played a bit. But because my phone number changed, I got locked out of Nintendo Online and couldn’t play anymore… Unforgivable… Maybe I should contact support, though honestly I don’t really play anyway, so it doesn’t matter much.
And of course, Obon means visiting the family grave. We went three nights in a row to offer incense. It’s out in the countryside, so the path is pitch black without even a streetlight—just lanterns and flashlights to guide the way. My niece stayed home gaming, so my brother and I went together. When I was younger, the walk felt far, but it’s actually less than 1 km. On the way, we just chatted about random stuff, the old-fashioned way.
During the day, we played at the park, Mario Kart, and board games. And just like that, Obon came to an end. Honestly, since university kept me so busy—and after returning, I didn’t have many close friends—I never really had that “summer vacation is too short!” feeling. What’s more important is having weekends and holidays off. That’s a blessing.
Fun fact: Splatoon was originally thought up as a rabbit game, not a squid one. Then they realized moving fast through ink could be like “swimming” in it, so it evolved into squids. It started with the idea of creating a totally new kind of game—and they really did it. It became a huge hit. If I’d been a kid when it came out, I would’ve been completely obsessed.
So, everyone, whether it’s games or something else, make sure to fully enjoy your hobbies!

Je suis rentré chez moi pour Obon. Cette année, j’y suis allé en voiture pour la première fois. J’avais un peu peur des embouteillages, mais finalement ce n’était pas si terrible : le trajet habituel de 2h30 est devenu environ 3h30, donc supportable.
En arrivant, j’ai posé mes affaires dans ma chambre et me suis assis sur le canapé. Ma nièce jouait aux jeux vidéo—apparemment, Splatoon est super populaire en ce moment.
Quand j’étais enfant, c’était l’époque des Game Boy reliées par un câble link. L’écran était sombre, ça buggait, les données disparaissaient parfois… En 20 ou 30 ans, le changement est fou. À la fac, j’ai rallumé ma vieille Game Boy par curiosité, mais l’écran était tellement sombre que c’était injouable. Et dire que je pouvais y passer des journées entières ! Les jeux d’aujourd’hui sont bien plus confortables pour les yeux.
Encore plus impressionnant, c’est le fait d’être connecté en permanence avec ses amis. Avec la 3DS, il fallait passer à côté de quelqu’un pour savoir à quoi il jouait. Aujourd’hui, tant que tu es sous Wi-Fi, tu es toujours connecté. Incroyable.
D’ailleurs, j’ai acheté Splatoon en ligne quand j’étais à l’hôpital et j’y ai joué un peu. Mais comme mon numéro de téléphone a changé, je ne peux plus me connecter à Nintendo Online et je ne peux plus jouer… Impardonnable… Peut-être que je devrais contacter le support, mais bon, comme je ne joue pas beaucoup, ce n’est pas très grave.
Et bien sûr, Obon rime avec visite au cimetière familial. Nous y sommes allés trois soirs de suite pour brûler de l’encens. Comme c’est à la campagne, il n’y a pas un seul lampadaire : on marche dans le noir total avec des lanternes et des lampes de poche. Ma nièce préférait rester jouer, donc j’y suis allé avec mon frère. Quand j’étais petit, j’avais l’impression que c’était loin, mais en réalité il y a moins d’un kilomètre. On discute de tout et de rien en marchant, à l’ancienne.
La journée, on jouait au parc, à Mario Kart, aux jeux de société… Et voilà, Obon est passé comme ça. Honnêtement, à l’université j’étais tellement occupé—et après mon retour, je n’avais pas beaucoup de proches—que je n’ai jamais eu cette impression de « les vacances d’été passent trop vite ». Le vrai luxe, c’est d’avoir les week-ends et les jours fériés.
Petite anecdote : à l’origine, Splatoon devait être un jeu avec des lapins, pas avec des calamars. Puis les créateurs se sont dit que se déplacer vite dans l’encre pouvait être vu comme « nager », et ça a évolué vers les calamars. L’idée de base était de créer un jeu vraiment nouveau—et ils ont réussi. C’est devenu un énorme succès. Si j’avais été enfant à sa sortie, je l’aurais poncé comme un fou.
