The training for new hires from all over the country has begun. The main sessions focus on lectures and group work to learn how to approach work effectively. This includes conveying objectives clearly and efficiently, facing problems and thinking of solutions or guidelines—essentially, learning the basics of work.

If what we did in April was the absolute basics—the “A” of the ABC—what we are doing now is probably around the “B” of the ABC. Learning proper ways to work is extremely helpful, especially for people like me who might be a bit too serious and lack flexibility. While the training motivates most people to try their best, it doesn’t resonate with those who aren’t motivated at all. It also helps cultivate the habit of calmly reflecting on oneself.

To put it in manga terms, I’m like the type who watches the overly enthusiastic class president trying to get everyone to do their best and thinks with a cool, detached eye—but still finds myself genuinely impressed by others’ insights, so I manage to stay balanced. Perhaps I’m a bit in the middle; some people without teamwork skills might never understand, and maybe I’ll remain middling forever. It also depends on how you apply the mindset learned here.

According to Toyo Keizai Online, people who are hired after 30 tend not to fear change. As for me… I want stability, but being stable forever would be boring. Perhaps I am a bit mediocre and balanced in nature, leaning more toward science than pure humanities, even though I ended up in a development role. I couldn’t survive days with nothing but repetition, yet constant change is exhausting. Being a rootless wanderer is impossible for me—both physically and mentally.

What about you, the reader? Are you someone who isn’t afraid of change or someone who seeks stability? Just curious. From what I see around me, most people seem to prefer stability.
