はい．伊豆海洋公園でダイビング予定でしたが，行けなくなりました．お盆になってみて，あれ渋滞やばいのではとは思い始めましたが，前泊すればいいか～と思ってました．しかし，天候の問題で場所も変わるから，もっかい出席確認するよと言われ，悩みつつも行かない事に決めました．
次の日何も無ければ余裕でしたが，その日は病院，早朝から本郷にいなければならない．その為に前泊用アパホテルも取ってますが，お盆渋滞の中でちゃんと時間に着ける？不安しかないので，今回は諦めました．退院後だからこその理由でこうなる事まあ程々ありますね．
そうなってしまったものは仕方ないので，上野公園の美術館行ってきます！激込みでしょうが，美術館好きとして存分に美術館に行けるの嬉しいです（笑）と思ったが，今の特別展，西洋画無い？うむ，まあ着いてから考えよう．ちなみに，実は予約投稿してるので美術館の模様はまた次回です！

ちなみに，伊豆半島は2000万年前は本州から数百キロ離れた海底火山群としてあったそうです．数万年で数百キロしか離れてないのは，私的に遅いな～って感じですが，皆さんはどう思いますか？
その後，60万年前に本州と衝突，今の半島が形成されたそうです．こっちは思ったより最近だなってなりますかね．いや時間のスケールあんまり知らんので，あんまり分らんですね．人間の歴史で見ると，猿人はもっと昔見たいですし，やっぱり最近かな．新人が50万年前ぐらいだそうで，ハワイが日本に近づいてるぜって事考えると，時間の規模がデカすぎてあんまりビックリとかはなさそうですが．
人間の歴史は短いし，もう何万年もしたら，いなくなるのかもしれないですが，太古の昔もそこに誰かいたって少しロマンティックですね（笑）

I was supposed to go diving at Izu Ocean Park, but that’s not happening anymore. When Obon came around, I started thinking, “Wait… won’t the traffic be insane?” Still, I figured I’d just go the day before and stay overnight. But then they told me, “The location might change because of the weather, so we’ll check attendance again.” After debating for a bit, I decided not to go.
If I didn’t have anything the next day, I’d be fine, but I have to be at the hospital, in Hongo, early in the morning. I even booked an APA Hotel for the night before, but honestly, with the Obon traffic, can I really get there on time? The more I thought about it, the more I felt uneasy—so, I gave up.
This kind of thing happens fairly often for reasons unique to my post-hospital life.
Since it can’t be helped, I’m going to Ueno Park to visit the art museum instead! It’ll probably be packed, but I’m happy because I love museums. (Although… I just realized the current special exhibition doesn’t have any Western paintings? Hmm, I’ll decide what to see once I get there.) By the way, I’m scheduling this post, so the museum report will come next time!
Feeling a little down, so here’s a photo of a fish my friend caught.
By the way, did you know the Izu Peninsula used to be a group of submarine volcanoes a few hundred kilometers away from Honshu about 20 million years ago? Honestly, moving only a few hundred kilometers in tens of thousands of years feels kinda slow to me—what do you think?
Then, about 600,000 years ago, it collided with Honshu to form the peninsula we know today. That actually feels pretty recent to me… though I’m not great with geological timescales. Compared to human history, where early hominids lived way before that, I guess it is recent. They say Homo sapiens appeared around 500,000 years ago. And thinking about how Hawaii is slowly drifting toward Japan, I guess these timescales are just too big to be mind-blowing.
Human history is short, and maybe in a few tens of thousands of years, we’ll be gone. But still, thinking that someone—or something—existed in those ancient days feels kind of romantic.

J’étais censé aller plonger à l’Izu Ocean Park, mais finalement, ça ne se fera pas. Quand la période d’Obon est arrivée, je me suis dit : « Attends… les embouteillages vont être horribles, non ? » Mais bon, je m’étais dit que si je partais la veille et que je dormais sur place, ça irait. Puis on m’a dit : « Le lieu pourrait changer à cause de la météo, donc on va revérifier qui vient. » Après avoir hésité, j’ai décidé de ne pas y aller.
Si je n’avais rien le lendemain, pas de souci. Mais je dois être à l’hôpital, à Hongo, tôt le matin. J’ai même réservé un hôtel APA pour la veille, mais franchement, avec les bouchons d’Obon, est-ce que j’arriverai à l’heure ? Plus j’y pensais, plus j’étais stressé… alors j’ai laissé tomber.
Ce genre de situation arrive assez souvent depuis ma sortie de l’hôpital.
Du coup, je vais plutôt aller au musée d’art du parc Ueno ! Ce sera sûrement blindé, mais je suis content car j’adore les musées. (Enfin… je viens de réaliser que l’expo actuelle n’a pas de peinture occidentale ? Bon, je déciderai sur place.) D’ailleurs, je programme ce post à l’avance, donc le compte-rendu du musée viendra la prochaine fois !

Au fait, saviez-vous que la péninsule d’Izu était autrefois un groupe de volcans sous-marins, situés à quelques centaines de kilomètres de Honshu, il y a environ 20 millions d’années ? Franchement, avancer seulement de quelques centaines de kilomètres en dizaines de milliers d’années… je trouve ça lent. Et vous ?
Ensuite, il y a environ 600 000 ans, elle est entrée en collision avec Honshu pour former la péninsule actuelle. Ça, je trouve que c’est plutôt récent… même si je ne suis pas très calé en échelle de temps géologique. Par rapport à l’histoire humaine, où les premiers hominidés existaient bien avant ça, c’est effectivement récent. Homo sapiens serait apparu il y a environ 500 000 ans. Et quand on pense que Hawaii se rapproche lentement du Japon, on se dit que ces échelles de temps sont juste trop grandes pour vraiment nous étonner.
L’histoire humaine est courte, et peut-être que dans quelques dizaines de milliers d’années, on ne sera plus là. Mais imaginer que, dans ces temps anciens, il y avait déjà “quelqu’un” là-bas… c’est un peu romantique, non ?
